Highlands Ranch Library Chess Club

Club
Highlands Ranch , CO
Welcome! We meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the James H. LaRue/Highlands Ranch Library. There are no fees. Sets and boards are provided. Children are welcome! We are a "serious social chess club"... not so serious as to use USCF ratings (our current best is a C player) or chess clocks often; however, we are more social than the internet. We usually have about a dozen and a half attendees; usually a third are adults. We keep an informal ladder with about 30 semi-active members. We try to pair individuals against their equals and hope the competitive urge motivates learning. Trying to formally teach has been frustrating -- too many of us live the Winston Churchill quote: "We all say we want to learn, none of us wants to be taught." If you would like to be put on our e-mail and/or telephone notification lists, please contact us.
