Saxon Phonics and Spelling
Saxon Phonics and Spelling K–2 was created to give educators the solutions they need to establish early learners’ foundational literacy skills and meet the needs of all types of learners within the regular classroom. Based on Orton-Gillingham, Saxon Phonics and Spelling K–2 combines explicit instruction with a cumulative, multisensory approach to support beginning readers as they build confidence through repeated success. Diagnostic and prescriptive assessments allow teachers to place students in instruction that best meets their learning needs. Through an integrated, comprehensive instructional design, students build on previously taught concepts and develop new skills every day. In Saxon Phonics and Spelling K–2, students continually review and are frequently assessed on previously introduced phonics and spelling concepts, even as they regularly encounter new increments of instruction. This approach ensures that students truly integrate and retain skills rather than forget them. The Saxon pedagogy is unique and research-based; it is also highly effective because it allows students to gain and retain critical phonics and spelling skills.
