Wild Learning

Curriculum

Wild Learning® believes that the outdoor environment is the ideal classroom for children. The Wild Math® and Wild Reading® curricula use nature as a tool for learning essential math and reading skills.

Activities

Wild Math

Wild Math is an engaging curriculum that incorporates math learning into outdoor activities, utilizing nature as a playground for experiential learning. Designed to be both educational and fun, the curriculum takes advantage of the outdoor environment where math concepts are explored through hands-on experiences. Students are encouraged to move, touch, see, hear, and explore math in natural settings. Activities might include using sticks to measure lengths, counting patterns in leaves, or calculating perimeter and area in a garden setting. This approach not only teaches math concepts such as fractions, angles, and basic arithmetic but also fosters motor skills, creativity, and a love for learning in an open-air classroom.

Wild Reading

Wild Reading is a nature-based hands-on curriculum that introduces children to letter sounds and phonics skills. The program follows the science of reading while integrating methods from Waldorf, Montessori, and nature-based learning. It aims to teach foundational reading and writing skills through storytelling, hands-on activities, and outdoor exploration. The curriculum provides a structured and sequential approach to learning phonics, ensuring comprehension and engagement by using the natural environment as a teaching tool.
