Aquatic Resources Education Center (AREC)

The Aquatic Resources Education Center, managed by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), offers comprehensive educational programs that focus on wetland ecosystems, aquatic life, and sustainable environmental practices. Recognized for its hands-on learning approach, AREC is committed to fostering environmental awareness through both physical and virtual experiences. AREC's flagship program, Eco-Explorers, specifically caters to fifth graders and homeschool groups, providing opportunities to explore tidal salt marshes and learn about food webs, energy flow, and conservation efforts. This program is designed to nurture scientific exploration and environmental stewardship among students by engaging them in field trips and interactive activities.
