How Can I See My Local Resources in HomeTrail?

HomeTrail’s Discover section is designed to help you find homeschool-friendly resources near you, things like co-ops, classes, parks, museums, groups, and other local opportunities that support learning beyond the home.

To see the most relevant results, HomeTrail uses the location you add during onboarding.

✅ How Local Resources Work

When you enter your location in HomeTrail, the app uses that information to populate Local Resources inside the Discover module. This helps ensure you’re not seeing random listings from across the country. You’ll see resources that match your region as closely as possible.

📍 Adding Your Location During Onboarding

During onboarding, HomeTrail asks for your location. Once you add it:

  • Discover will begin showing local resources based on your area

  • Resource suggestions will become more relevant over time

  • You’ll get a better experience browsing nearby opportunities

If you skip location during onboarding, Discover may show fewer local listings (or default to more general content).

🔄 What If I Didn’t Add My Location (or Moved)?

You can update your location anytime:

  1. Go to Trailhead

  2. Click Location

  3. Update your city/state (or region)

  4. Save

Once updated, your Discover feed will refresh to show local resources based on your new location.

🔎 Where to Find Local Resources

To view your local resources:

  1. Open Discover

  2. Look for the Local Resources section

  3. Browse listings or use filters (if available)

  4. Tap a resource to view details

🧠 Why Location Matters

Homeschool resources are highly regional. What’s available in one state or city may not exist elsewhere. By letting you choose your location, HomeTrail can:

  • Highlight opportunities close to your family

  • Help newer homeschoolers find support faster

  • Make the Discover section feel truly personal to your area

🛠️ A Note About Expansion

HomeTrail’s local resource database is actively growing. If your area has fewer listings right now, that’s normal. We’re expanding coverage over time, and community submissions help a lot.

🔒 Privacy Note: HomeTrail Doesn’t Track You

Your location in HomeTrail is not used to track you or monitor your movement. HomeTrail only uses the location you enter to:

✅ show you nearby homeschool resources
✅ personalize the Discover section

That’s it, you’re in control, and you can change or remove your location at any time.
