Our Place at The Wilderness

Our Place at The Wilderness is an early learning center located in Bishopdale, Christchurch, New Zealand. It occupies a spacious site that was previously the McKenzie Residential School. The Wilderness offers a unique educational setting that emphasizes nature-based learning. The facilities include native bush, vegetable gardens, an orchard, and animal paddocks, providing children with ample opportunities for play and learning in a natural environment. The center fosters love, laughter, and learning within their community, also known as Whanau. It's focused on integrating family and community into the educational experience, underscoring their belief that family means everything. The Wilderness provides a rich learning environment that supports early childhood education with a focus on exploration and interaction with nature, aligning well with homeschooling philosophies that emphasize experiential and nature-based learning.
