If HomeTrail keeps returning you to onboarding, one required setup field is usually incomplete. Your saved family records are not erased just because the setup screen reappears.
Review the required setup fields
Move through setup again and confirm:
- Who are you teaching? includes at least one student with a name or nickname and grade level.
- Any additional student row you started also has both a name or nickname and grade level. Complete that row or remove it before continuing.
- Your Location has a selected search result, including city and state.
- Your school year is set to either Year-round or Follow a school calendar.
- You selected where you are in your homeschool journey.
- Calendar-based families have both a school-year start date and end date.
- The page shows no validation message before you select Next.
HomeTrail creates a starting attendance criterion automatically during setup. After setup, you can review and personalize it from Trailhead > Attendance.
If a student or other information seems missing
Finish setup first, then open Home and review your family rhythm and students. Do not create a second family account to work around the setup screen because that can separate new records from the family you already use.
If you already completed setup in the mobile app, sign in on the website with the same email address. A different email address can open a different HomeTrail account.
If setup still does not finish
Refresh the page once and continue from the saved step. If the same completed step keeps returning or the page continues spinning, use Contact support in the Help Center.
Tell support which step is repeating and whether you are using the website or mobile app. Do not include your password or unnecessary student details.
