Reviewing Student Work with Compass
Compass can review eligible worksheet images to give the parent feedback, learning insights, and suggested next steps. It is not an official grade, score, diagnosis, or assessment.
Work may be reviewed when:
- A student submits an eligible generated worksheet through Nest
- A parent sends TrailGuide a clear photo of student work and asks for a review
Enable student submissions from Plus Hub → Nest with I understand, enable Nest. Connect photo messaging from Plus Hub → TrailGuide with Connect TrailGuide.
Before sending work
- Make sure the whole page is visible and readable.
- Remove unrelated personal information from the image.
- Tell TrailGuide which student and activity the work belongs to when it is not obvious.
- Ask for the kind of help you want, such as strengths, likely misunderstandings, or a next practice step.
Compass uses the submitted image, worksheet context, and limited family learning context needed for the review. HomeTrail may use business AI providers for this processing, with customer content configured not to train their models.
Automatic Nest review does not guarantee that a Compass learning signal will be saved or that an SMS notification will be sent. High-confidence observations gathered through TrailGuide require your confirmation before they become Compass learning signals.
Review the result with your own knowledge of the student. You can correct the context, disregard an insight, change student setup, disable Nest access, or delete student data from HomeTrail.
