Curriculum
Lightning Literature is a language arts curriculum designed to: instill a love of literature in students, expand their ability to read intelligently and deeply, and prepare them for more advanced language arts concepts. The key components to this series are literature, grammar and mechanics, and composition. Each elementary level consists of a re-useable Teacher’s Guide, a consumable Student Workbook, and readers that can be obtained either by borrowing the books (from your local library or friends), or purchasing them (either used or new). You’ll need a separate method for teaching spelling, learning to read, and penmanship. The original grades 7 & 8 consist of a re-useable Teacher’s Guide, re-useable Student Guide, a consumable Student Workbook. The updated Level Storm (and coming Level Tempest) consist of a re-useable Teacher’s Guide and two Student Workbooks divided by semesters. Readers can be obtained either by borrowing the books (from your local library or friends), or purchasing them (either used or new). Each high school level consists of a printed Teacher’s Guide, a re-useable Student Workbook, and readers that can be obtained either by borrowing the books (from your local library or friends), or purchasing them (either used or new). The High School levels do not include grammar or vocabulary.
