  1. Day 1

    Meet the neighborhood

    Focus: Build a question-driven map of the Sun, planets, dwarf planets, and smaller bodies.

    • Use NASA’s solar system overview.
    • Sort objects by what they orbit.
    • Write three questions and mark which need observation, measurement, or explanation.
  2. Day 2

    Distance changes the picture

    Focus: Make a simplified distance walk and notice why posters compress space.

    • Choose a manageable scale.
    • Place planet markers along a hallway or outside.
    • Label the scale and state what the model leaves out.
  3. Day 3

    One planet, closely

    Focus: Research a planet from a primary science source.

    • Complete the planet evidence card.
    • Separate measured facts from comparisons or nicknames.
    • Create one diagram with a sourced caption.
  4. Day 4

    Light and motion

    Focus: Model how changing positions affect what an observer sees.

    • Use a flashlight and ball to explore illuminated halves.
    • Sketch three positions.
    • Explain why the model is useful without claiming it represents every motion.
  5. Day 5

    Design a mission question

    Focus: Finish with a question a spacecraft or telescope could investigate.

    • Choose an object and a question.
    • Name what would need to be measured.
    • Create a mission patch and a short scientific justification.
