Adding Details to a Completed Custom Curriculum Session
When you complete (check off) a Custom Curriculum item in HomeTrail, you can also add session details to document what was actually done. This helps turn a simple âÂÂcompletedâ checkmark into a meaningful record for progress tracking, reporting, and portfolios.
Why Add Details to a Completed Curriculum Session?
Adding details is useful if you want to track:
What was covered (lesson/page/chapter/topic)
How long it took (minutes/hours)
Which subject it counted toward
Notes about progress (strengths, struggles, wins, next steps)
Evidence for portfolios (photos, uploads, or reflections, if available)
This is especially helpful for families who need strong documentation for state compliance, evaluations, or independent learners (like teens).

Tips for Clear, Helpful Records
âÂÂ
Keep notes short and specific
Examples:
âÂÂLesson 5: fractions intro + worksheetâÂÂ
âÂÂRead chapters 2âÂÂ3, discussed themesâÂÂ
âÂÂWriting: rough draft + edit passâÂÂ
âÂÂMusic practice: scales + Song AâÂÂ
âÂÂ
Add duration when you can
Even rough estimates help if you track hours for reporting.
âÂÂ
Use subjects consistently
This makes subject-based reporting and totals much more accurate.
Where These Details Show Up
Details logged on completed Custom Curriculum sessions can appear in:
Student activity/session history
Subject and time totals (when subject + duration are included)
Progress Reports and Year-End Reports (depending on report type and range)
