These instructions apply to HomeTrail parent app 1.11 or later. If your app looks different, check your installed version or use the HomeTrail website. The parent app manages family learning; the separate Nest app is the student's learning space.
Home and your family rhythm
Use Home for your family overview, students, recurring Rhythm activities, progress charts, and reports. Use Day for the selected day's learning and Planner for dated plans. Family setup is completed on the HomeTrail website before you use the app.
Record spontaneous learning, including a past day
- Open Day and choose the day the learning happened.
- Find Spontaneous Learning and tap Add New.
- Choose the activity and students, add details, and save.
For a recurring lesson, use its checkbox in the day's Rhythm list. Open the entry to view or edit details. Recording a new spontaneous activity is different from editing a completed entry.
Create and use learning materials
With HomeTrail Plus, open Create from Home or while planning in Day or Planner. Choose a material format and its options, make a draft, then preview and refine it. In Review & finish, choose the children, day, and subjects and prepare their copies.
Each child has a separate copy. Open or share it, add it to the plan, or send it to Nest. Preparing a copy does not itself add it to the plan or mark learning complete. Sending it to Nest also adds it to the plan. Printable materials and child web links have different sharing options; use the options shown for that material.
Reports, Compass, and Nest
Home includes reports and progress charts. Plus families can use Compass learner snapshots and manage Nest materials, answer guides, and printable daily editions. These are parent controls; children use the separate Nest app, signed in by a parent with the family's HomeTrail account.
Account setup, billing, and subscription management remain on the HomeTrail website. If an upload control only accepts photos, use the website's dated activity materials and Attach PDF for a Plus PDF attachment; do not assume every app upload picker accepts PDFs.
