A Nest Daily Edition gathers a student's available activities into a paper-friendly view while keeping links and interactive items available in Nest.

Build and print an edition

  1. Ask TrailGuide to build an edition for a student and date, for example: “Print Avery’s Nest for today.” You can request more than one student.
  2. Open the private edition link TrailGuide provides.
  3. Review the activities, printable resources, and items that still need Nest.
  4. Choose Print today's Nest.

The edition separates Today’s Route, printable worksheets, and Continue in Nest. QR codes open online items.

Each activity in Today’s Route has an Include in print switch that starts on. Turn off any activities you do not want on paper before printing. Included activities keep their square paper checkbox so the student can mark them complete by hand.

Newsworthy packs print the complete readable article text generated by Reader, up to eight articles in one Daily Edition. HomeTrail fetches that text when you open the edition and keeps only a short-lived cache; the publisher's article body is not saved in the Daily Edition. If a publisher blocks the direct Reader request, HomeTrail tries its alternate article retriever and still runs the result through Reader. When neither method can provide readable content, HomeTrail leaves that article out of the printed edition so the rest of the Nest can still print. An edition with more than eight Newsworthy articles will not open; remove an article before creating a new edition.

Each printable Newsworthy pack has an Include images switch beside its page code. Packs with one or two images start with images included. Packs with three or more start with images left out to save ink. Change any switch before choosing Print today's Nest; the choice applies only to that printout.

Printable Word Search packs use a worksheet layout with a letter grid and a separate word bank. Pack-creation prompts and on-screen dragging instructions are left out of the Daily Edition.

Printable Coloring Page packs receive a dedicated full Letter page. Nest leaves out the coloring toolbar and on-screen drawing layer, then scales the generated artwork to the available page without cropping it.

See Creating and Printing Coloring Pages for theme ideas, detail levels, and the Nest coloring controls.

The HT-… page codes uniquely identify items inside that Daily Edition. Photo review does not currently use those codes as an automatic lookup, so tell TrailGuide which student and activity the photo belongs to.

The selected date controls planned activities and which packs are available. The edition includes eligible packs for that date plus older packs the student has not opened or skipped yet. This means unfinished reading such as an earlier Newsworthy pack carries forward without changing its date. Packs the student already opened do not carry forward.

The edition snapshots existing visible work and excludes skipped, failed, future, and unapproved cards.

The edition URL is a temporary signed bearer link, normally valid for 24 hours. Anyone with the link can open it until it expires, so do not forward it outside your family. Create a new edition when the student's day changes.
