Create Materials turns a topic into worksheets, readings, audio, puzzles, and other formats you review before sharing. Generation requires HomeTrail Plus (paid or an active Plus trial). Browsing Create Materials is available on a free account, but generating shows Make this with HomeTrail Plus, a 10-day free trial badge, and See Plus plans on every platform.
Open Create Materials on the website
- Select Create Materials in the top header on any signed-in page, or open the Create materials card on the Day page.
- Pick a format (for example Focused topic reading with a source link, Reading, writing, science & social studies, Explainer, Silly story, Podcast, or Chosen web article).
- Enter the topic and any format-specific settings, then select Create now.
- When the draft is ready, open Review & finish, choose the children and the day, then select Prepare their copies.
- On each child’s card, Open on the web, Copy link, Print, Add to plan, or Send to Nest.
You need at least one student. Curriculum or sessions are not required. Send to Nest needs Plus, a prepared copy for that child, and Nest turned on for that child.
Open Create Materials in the parent app
- Tap ..., then Quick actions, then Create materials; or open Create materials from Home or Day.
- On Day, free accounts see a Plus badge on Create materials and are sent to the Plus screen instead of generating.
- Follow the steps: format, what it is about, review, then who, when, and how (On the plan, In Nest, or Print/share).
Start your 10-day free trial buttons appear on the website and on iOS in the US App Store region. On Android and on iOS outside the US App Store region, start Plus on the website, then return to the app. The Create materials upgrade card still shows 10-day free trial and See Plus plans on every platform.
When the app cannot start checkout, sign in to the website and open Billing at /billing to start Plus. Existing Plus families can also use Family Settings → Manage Subscription to manage their subscription.
Limits and revisions
Standard daily limits are 20 with paid Plus and 5 during a Plus trial. Tailor it revisions count toward the same daily limit. The count uses your family time zone and starts fresh at the beginning of the next calendar day there.
Preparing copies for more students from one generated draft does not use additional daily generations. Materials created on a recurring Nest schedule are tracked separately and are not counted in this daily on-demand limit.
