HomeTrail separates when an activity repeats (Rhythm) from how long it took or what time it happened (individual learning records on Day and Planner).
Rhythm: weekdays and date range, not class clock times
Your family rhythm controls which weekdays a recurring activity appears. You choose When does it repeat? weekdays, which students it is for, and whether it is Ongoing or limited with Set start & end dates.
Rhythm does not set a daily clock time (such as “Math at 9:00 AM every Monday”) for each recurring class. To plan a one-time lesson, field trip, or event at a specific date, add it in Planner instead of Rhythm.
With HomeTrail Plus, use Plan day (the pencil) on a specific date to add a Title for this day, Notes or instructions, and Link for this day without changing the whole Rhythm schedule. See Plan Recurring Activities and Copy Weeks.
Duration and start time on one activity record
When you open or add an activity on Day or Planner, expand Extra details in the activity pop-up (when shown):
- Set Duration in hours and minutes for how long the learning took or will take.
- Optionally set Start time and End time for that single record.
- Optionally add Location.
These fields apply to that dated record, not to every future Rhythm day automatically.
Quick-add flows such as Add work or Add book may hide Extra details until you save and edit the record, depending on the entry type.
How activities sort on a day
On Planner week and month views, activities on the same day sort by saved Start time when present, then by record order. If you leave Start time blank, HomeTrail does not sort by clock time; order follows how records were saved on that day.
Setting duration alone does not reorder the list by time of day.
Daily check-in time (separate from class times)
On Home → Your family rhythm, the Daily check-in section has its own At time when the check-in is enabled. That time controls when HomeTrail sends the check-in, not when each subject appears on the Planner.
See Turn Off the Daily Check-In if you want to disable it.
What HomeTrail does not do today
HomeTrail does not provide a single screen to assign a different clock time to every recurring Rhythm class for the whole year. Use Rhythm for repeating weekdays, and use Start time on individual records when you need a specific time on one day.
